Publisher's Note

We know the northshore is a great place to live. We’ll sometimes even admit to hoping it would remain a secret, instead of being one of the fastest-growing areas in the country. The word is definitely spreading, however. Good job, Tourist Commission!

Southern Living recently highlighted both Slidell and Covington. The March/April issue of Where to Retire magazine focuses on the northshore as a very desirable retirement location. The article notes the many benefits of our area, interviews with couples who relocated here and pertinent facts for retirees. For more, visit wheretoretire.com.

I’m getting to retirement faster than I imagined. This summer is my 25th reunion—Lutheran High School Class of ’79! To say that the years have flown by is an understatement. You could’ve knocked me over with a feather when a friend suggested it was time to start planning for the milestone. The party prep has been fun. But suddenly I’m feeling an urge to schedule Botox, start tanning and look for the perfect dress. Maybe something in pink. It’s the hot summer color, says our newest feature, “Inside Look,” on page 42.

A new dress won’t make me smoother or tanner or thinner in time for July 17. (I’ll work on that for the 50th—after I retire!) But, since I need to wear something to the reunion, it might as well be a new dress! And maybe a new pair of shoes ...

p.s. Have a great summer!
